There is just one day left before staff members at a Maryland school system receive a $1,000 bonus payment as an early Christmas present.
The Anne Arundel County Public Schools' staff will earn this incentive,
which has the full support of the board of educators.
All permanent employees, with the exception of those on a leave of absence, will receive the funds by December 16,
according to AACPS. The amount will be prorated depending on an employee's full-time equivalent.
Because the payments will be made from funds that the school district will have saved from the vacancies it had throughout the system,
AACPS won't need to request additional funding to pay for these bonuses.
The amount of the healthcare fund balance held by AACPS is the cause of this.
